Acid reflux

Acid reflux: this means, there is too much heat in the system. We must cool the agni (digestive fire).

Avoid: stress and reduce anger.
No TV during meals, no heated discussions during meals
Avoid liquor or alcohol
Avoid spicy foods

Eat fresh, cooling foods like cucumber, leafy greens, fresh fruits

Herbs that help: Fennel seed, coriander, licorice

Yoga Asanas that help: Vajrasana, pawanmuktasana, ushtrasana, majariasana

For fast relief, try 1 pint celery or cabbage juice.

Digest your food better

What are just three things you can do today to digest your meals better? Here they are!

1.) Add some spices. Ginger, black pepper, cardamom and other warming spices will help to break the food down and be absorbed properly once its in the small intestine. In Ayurveda you can look for’Trikitu’ — this is a special combination of ginger powder, black pepper and long pepper, also called ‘pippali’. Used since ancient times, this special three spice mix work excellent for stimulating the appetite and helping to break down foods, increasing the digestive fire and burning toxins. With maximum digestion and absorption, this means there is more energy and vitality in your body!

2.) Chew. Over 80 percent of digestion takes place in the mouth. We want to have our food pretty well broken down before it hits the stomach or our stomach will have to do the majority of the work — and that is not the stomachs primary job! If huge chunks are coming down the throat into the stomach, it is not only dangerous for a risk of choking, but will also create a lot of bloating, digestive discomfort, possible abdominal extension and an annoying belly-ache. We digest the food primarily in the mouth and that is why we have a tongue and teeth.

3. Eat when hungry. So many times people are snacking all day long, or they eat a big meal and after one hour, they eat again, even if not hungry. They are creating a traffic jam in their digestive system. We want to wait until the previous meal has moved out of the stomach and has at least started being absorbed into the small intestine. Something light just a piece of fruit is ok, but if you eat a huge healthy meal, you should not need to eat again for at least 4-5 hours.

Check to make sure you are eating when actually hungry and not just for emotional or stress-related reasons. Spending time in meditation and listening to your body will help you understand the difference between emotional eating and real hunger. Sometimes, for example, when we are nervous or cannot sit still, we feel like we need to munch. Recognizing our signs of anxiety can assist us in eliminating these kind of unwanted habits.

Doing everything with mindfulness will bring the body to peace.

Physical cleanliness

Physical cleanliness for spiritual people

Over the years and during my travels I have come across many people all over the world of all cultures, races and backgrounds. Concerning cleanliness, I have found that it matters not where you come from, how much money you make, what your race is, who your parents are, what part of the city you live in or if you live in the country or even how spiritual you are that decides how physically clean or dirty someone will be.

Preconceptions I had when I was younger was that usually people who make a lot money and can afford maids or cleaners would be cleaner – but after working in a 5 star luxury hotel resort for a few months, I found this to be quite the contrary. People that easily spent 500 dollars a night were rather quite dirty and perhaps expected others to clean up after them.

And after traveling to many poor areas of the world, I had found that some people in places like India or Central America were actually quite clean for the space they had. They were organized; every object had a place; shoes were taken off in the dwelling area; waste and feces were segregated from cooking or sleeping areas; animals had their own place in the living area.

So I determined that cleanliness had nothing to do with how much money one made, where one resided or which culture, sex or race they were.

Another preconception I had was specifically about spiritually “enlightened” people. I figured they would be some of the physically cleanest people in the world, based on the fact that their body is their temple and they seem to be conscious of all their actions. Nope. I was again, wrong. In fact, some of these people, too, seem to be some of the dirtiest people I have met. It may be that they are spending too much time living in the higher chakras and not being “grounded” or coming down long enough to the physical plane to take care of necessary things, like bathing or cleaning the toilet.

However, meditation should not be an excuse for not showering for 10 days. We are all spiritual beings having a human experience and our bodies and homes still need to be tended to.

Here are some things that “US” spiritually enlightened people should be “coming down to earth” more often to take care of. You can feel free to check them off as you go along. These things should be checked on daily; in some cases every couple days is OK.

yoga-cleanliness1.) Bathing. This really isn’t something that I should even be stressing since it should be common sense, but yet so many people neglect to bathe daily. I can understand if you are traveling or don’t have access to a shower. In that case, you may need to rinse every other day. Bathing daily not only cleanses bacteria and germs from our skin; it rejuvenates us spiritually. It cleanses our aura and washes away any negative energy that has attached to our energy body. And if you are “au naturel” and avoid soaps or shampoos, that is OK, but an even more important reason to wash up every day. Especially bacteria zones like armpits and our bottoms. Not keeping clean causes skin rashes and odor, which are not fun for the people around you.

2. Pay attention to your eating / dining and kitchen area. I have met many people that are vegan and spiritual. I would have assumed that automatically being vegan would mean that one would be more conscious and aware of their surroundings, since vegans are usually associated with eating healthy, having compassion for animals and awareness of environmental concerns. However, I met vegans that had refrigerators full of rotting, stinking food and counter tops that were left crusted over with old food. I didn’t understand it. How could someone be so concerned with what they put into their body, but then let food sit out to rot creating a buildup of bacteria and germs in the kitchen where new, fresh food is being prepared? How can someone let the rice milk sit in the fridge for 15 days after being open, so much that the container becomes bloated and stinking and the food becomes black and fuzzy with mold? This, however, is not to single out vegans. I have met non-vegans that do the same thing.

The point is that what is around us also goes into us. We are not only our bodies, but our external environment is also a reflection of ourselves. Would we hang out with negative, “rotting” people? Then why do we allow rotting foods to be unconsciously absorbed by our bodies? We need to pay attention to things like cross contamination not only in places like restaurants that serve non plant-based items, but also in our own homes dealing with plant-based items. If we have rotting food in the fridge or old moldy food that needs to be tossed, we need to take care of this to avoid absorbing “stinking” energy into our body.

fridgeRemember also that if the fridge is too full air cannot pass and things may not cool as they need to. You could be risking the chance that the food does not stay fresh and it will rot quicker. I like this photo because everything has a place; foods are sealed and although the fridge is full, there are no open containers or half eaten vegetables laying open. The light is able to pass through so you can see everything, which means you can check periodically on fruits and veggies.

So please, keep the fridge clean and take everything out every couple weeks for a complete wipe down; toss old foods; wipe down the counter tops; do the dishes regularly and sweep the kitchen floors of any debris or food crumbs that have fallen to the floor. This will also help your food budget, since you will not have to throw away food that has gone bad.

3. Clean the clutter. Some very spiritual people I have met is what others may call “hoarders”. This is something I could not quite grasp. In the Baghavad Gita it says we should be clean both internally and externally. And Patanjali’s Ashtanga Yoga deals with Yama and Niyama, that is, the steps necessary for both internal and external purity. So why do some people keep clothes piled on the floor, trash piling up, dirty dishes in the sink and a general sense of clutter? First off, material possessions should not be important, therefore, we should not worry about collecting things that do not serve us. Secondly, the more clutter we have around us, the less we are able to relax and calm our minds. Our external world reflects our internal world so how can we be spiritually enlightened by having 40 pounds of laundry lying on the floor and a collection of plastic recyclables and paper build-up?

4. Keep the bathroom clean. I should not even need to say this, but the bathroom is usually the least maintained space out of most people I have met, vegan or non vegan, spiritual or non spiritual. And I cannot figure out why. If you poop, clean it up. Why is it OK to clean your dog poop off the sidewalk, but then not clean your own poop off the underneath of the toilet seat? Toilets should be cleaned every couple days with some kind of cleaner, whether it be water and lemon juice, water and vinegar or even just hot water and soap if you are anti-chemical. In any case, many natural cleaning solutions exist, so there is no excuse why there should be mold and dirt underneath the toilet seat. The shower and sink should also be tended to. Once a week usually does the trick. If the sink is black and has a soapy film like residue on it, it means that it has long been overdue for a good cleaning. And don’t forget the bathroom floor.

5. Bed sheets and laundry. Rule of thumb? Wash bed linens once a week. If you have only one set, buy another. And I know most of you can afford it because if there is money to buy the highest quality coconut oil in the supermarket, there is money to purchase another set of sheets. If you need to go to the laundromat to wash, you can get away with twice a month. Just remember, that you are sleeping in dust mites and dead skin. How long would you like to sleep in that stuff before washing? Would you like to sleep in other people’s dead skin? So make sure your guests have clean sheets to give them the service you would like to receive. Clothes? Same thing. The longer you go without washing the more you are continuing to wear dust mites and dead skin. Your skin will develop a rash if you go long enough without washing. And if your clothing stinks, that is already an indication you need to wash it.

6. Sweep floors and clear out cobwebs. I sometimes find it irksome when I go to people’s homes and there is no hard and fast rule about shoes on or shoes off. This means that when necessary, the shoes come off. But when not necessary, shoes stay on. Hmmm. That means that every so often mud, dust, pollution, gasoline, dirt, poo, bugs — pretty much anything outside has the possibility to be brought inside where we go around with our bare feet or socks. This means that before we go to bed at night, we have the possibility of sleeping in whatever we brought into the house. Kind of like camping — except we are not camping. Not only that, we bring in whatever energy was outside. For spiritual people this should be very important. We all know how many negative influences are out there. Would we really want to have that stuff attach to our shoes that we wear all over the house, contaminating our private environment with whatever goes on outside our walls?

cobwebsAnd what about cobwebs? If there is a spider there, leave it. I can understand not wanting to upset the spider. But cobwebs means that the spider has moved on. There is no one living there. So just get a broom and take them down. While you’re at it, you can also clean the dust out from under the bed. No need to encourage allergies by keeping balls of dust hanging around the house. If you have cobwebs in the corners of your ceilings what kind of cobwebs do you have in the corner of your mental thinking??

In general, whatever or wherever we come from or whoever we are, we have no excuses why we cannot be tidier, neater, more organized and more attentive to dust, bacteria, germs and other things that like to inhabit our spaces. It is not that these things are terrible, it is just that sometimes they can wreak havoc in our own lives in the forms of rashes, allergies, infections or even diseases, if for example we live in conditions that favor rats or mice.

Being physically clean is a reflection of our inner cleanliness and if we claim to be spiritual people, searching for truth and enlightenment, it makes sense that our inner purity should be reflected on the outside.

Namaste.

Quit your job

5 REASONS TO QUIT YOUR JOB NOW!

slaveperson1  I assume that if you are reading this post you are entirely interested in getting out of your job. Or maybe not — maybe you are just curious as to what the post is about and you really do enjoy your job. Then I say to you, “Congratulations!” Because you are one of about 5% of the population that truly loves what they do for a living. Then there are those of us that know exactly what having a “job” means and are in the process of getting FREE. I say to you, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK and INSPIRE OTHERS!!!

And the rest of us?

The rest of us are working our jobs either because:

  • a.) Our parents told us to get a job.
  • b.) It’s a family business so we just “grew” up in this job.
  • c.) It was the highest paying job we found.
  • d.) It was the only job we could get at the time.
  • e.) We have to pay bills and don’t know what else to do for money.
  • f.) We don’t have any life plan and don’t know what to do.

Or something else along those lines. This means that the rest of us just have to have money, basically, to live and that is why we are working at the job we have. Some of us did go to school, get a degree and then get that job because it paid a lot of money, or because we just simply didn’t know what else to do and had input from everyone around us to do something.

What does J.O.B mean anyways?? Just over broke — we have all heard that. It keeps us in this perpetual hamster wheel type state, unable to get ahead and just enough to stay on the hamster wheel. And a lot of us live in fear that if we don’t have that J.O.B, we will be out on the street or on social welfare, even more dependent on a broken system.

But it does not have to be this way. You can quit your job today and move on to bigger and better things. Stop being a slave to the system! Stop conforming and join the many people that are abandoning the system. Why? Because if we all make this a group effort; if we all abandon the system at the same time; if we all work together and work towards higher consciousness and a better way of living, then the old system will slowly fade away. Bottom line — it’s US that have to change. WE need to start working on US first and then the rest will follow!

So 5 reasons to quit your job??

rich11.) Stop making someone else rich. I find it funny that people work at “A Company” and “A Company” makes designer bags that are sold for 300 dollars a bag. But the people that work at the company make 8 dollars an hour. Hmmmm…. The company also uses slave labor in 3rd world countries, who they pay even less money to and you work for a company that does this sort of thing. And maybe you even purchase the bag, because your company, “A Company”, lets you have a 10% discount. Why? Why do you do this? YOU are perpetuating YOUR OWN SLAVERY!! You are “allowing” them to exploit you! Why? Because then you can tell your friends how “stylish” you are to have this designer bag, while promoting slavery not only in your home country, but in other countries as well, where labor laws are a tenth of what they are in the “western” world?? You mean to tell me that your designer bag is worth MORE than your freedom? Your bag is worth more than your precious TIME, which is a limited commodity and which you will NEVER get back?? All the while someone else is getting filthy rich off of all YOUR efforts??

2.) Use your OWN creative mind. ALL of us have unique talents that we were born with. We are all special and are capable of doing particular things that no one else can do! We all have a set of talents that we need to develop and use, because these talents can be used to do great things for the planet AND for human kind! Why aren’t you developing them? Do you know what you are capable of?? We all have SO MUCH potential inside of us, just waiting to be let out and be fully expressed!

drone13.) You are NOT a corporate drone. We humans, we not meant to sit at a computer desk 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week in some corpseration to try “invent” some new application that tells us when our cat went to the toilet. I mean, are you kidding me?? Such absurdities really exist in our world and there are human beings literally dedicating their precious time; their entire lives, to do things that have NO REAL IMPORTANCE on the face of the earth. There are things on our planet that are completely USELESS. How many hours a day did the makers of silly putty stay in their offices thinking of the best way that a completely useless object could be molded, thrown, squished, smashed, crunched, or balled up and still retain the same form afterwards? Did this really move us forward as a human race??

4.) No job security. Yes, that’s right. The fact of the matter is, is that there is NO job security anywhere in the world. Corporations are a dime a dozen and small, medium and large companies open and close all the time. Your company could go bankrupt tomorrow. You could be fired at any moment. Your company could merge and your position could be outsourced to someone in Nicaragua. You are no longer “safe” having a traditional 9-5 job. You are much safer if you begin to take matters into you OWN hands NOW.

liberta25.) Start to live your life again! Having a boss and a job prevents us from doing things we enjoy, for example creating art or music, being with family and friends, or attending events. How many of us have already turned down an invitation to a wedding, or family event, or even our own child’s first soccer game because we “had to work”. How many of us schedule our vacation time around “work”? What about when a loved one is sick or in the hospital? How many of us have actually risked losing, or actually lost a job to take care of a sick or dying loved one? And what about the birth of a new born baby? How many mothers leave the hospital and instead of spending time with their brand-new baby, have to get back to work for fear they will be “replaced”.
Are you kidding me?

The sad thing is, though, is that we as human beings are accepting these conditions! We drop everything for our jobs that barely keep us treading water! We are “afraid” that we cannot make it on our own. We are still waiting for the slave-owner to give us something to eat because we are “afraid” that we cannot grow our own food. The truth is, is that we can only blame ourselves. I know it’s easy to blame society, but by blaming someone or something else, we also give the responsibility to someone or something else.

We need to stand up for ourselves; we need to ask questions and NOT accept this “status-quo” or whatever that is supposed to mean. We need NOT accept less than standard conditions and need to start to get our priorities straightened out. And the more of us that jump on this bandwagon, the easier it will be for our own and future generations.

TV and the mainstream media

We have moved into the Conceptual Age. Higher Consciousness is upon us whether we want it or not. Those that do not accept it will remain in the reptilian brain, unable to move up that ladder to a better life; more peace of mind; a connection to the spiritual.

The questions of this moment in time are, Who are we and what are we doing here?

tvkidsSo what about the TV? This black box sitting in the corner of a room, which emits low frequencies that permeate your energy body and consume your life energy. TV is from the past. TV is an invention that made a statement and now needs to be retired along with the rest of its electronic kin, like the radio or the microwave.

Are you still watching it? Are you STILL letting others program your mind? Are you STILL wasting away hours while watching some mind-numbing program??

If you are, you should take it immediately to some TV recycle shop, have them pay you 5 dollars for it and use that 5 dollars to buy someone a coffee.

Let me ask you – all these years of your life, what has TV contributed to you?

Has TV made your life better?
Has it made you money?
Has it resolved your emotional problems or filled that “empty” feeling?
Has it given you a solution as to how to change jobs?
Has it contributed to peace of mind?

I can probably answer NO to these questions for you. How?

1) TV costs money, so you probably did not get rich watching TV.
2.) I imagine your emotional problems are worse, because if you see all the violence, sex, filthy language, subliminal messages, hatred, poking fun etc on TV, then you probably actually felt worse.
3.) If you hate your job, why did you come home all those years to watch your favorite TV show INSTEAD of coming home to look for another job, or CREATE something on the side, or CONTRIBUTE your time to volunteer work?
4.) TV is simply an escape – nothing more. TV will not solve your problems. It will only help you escape from them, but the reality is after you go to bed and get up again in the morning the problems are still there.

Did you know TV causes all kinds of health problems too? Like obesity, sleeping disorders, and stunted sensory development? Plus we all know that “sitting” is the new “smoking”, so TV watching can cause lower back pain and circulation problems, as well.

Take responsibility for your life. Sit down and write in detail what your PERFECT life would look like. Do you still work the same job? Are you in the same relationships? Do you live in the same city? Then start to make a plan on HOW to get what it is you want. It may not happen exactly how you want it to happen, but you may come close. And be realistic. Start making small changes. Like getting rid of the TV, for starters.

Get some books or search the internet for new information on what it is you want.

TV does NOTHING for our true happiness.

It is mean to keep us in a zombie-like slave state. It is meant to keep the FEAR instilled in us so we do not have courage to step out on our own. It is meant to keep us focused, like a horse with blinders, on brain-numbing nonsense. It is a tool that those in control are using to keep us down. They keep us brainwashed. They keep us scared. They keep us unmotivated.

So let’s nurture our brains instead of polluting them with mind-control, brain-washing, low frequency junk!

Get out there and take a yoga class, walk in nature, read a book, spend time with your family, cook a healthy meal, meditate, volunteer your time, ride a bicycle, help an elderly person, write a novel, paint a picture, play an instrument or learn a language! It’s your choice – do you want to improve your life?

So let’s take charge! We can change it! By changing ourselves for the better, we can change the entire world, one by one!

So do something awesome today and trash your TV!!
